Solar upgrades for systems that are not doing what they did

Panels last decades; inverters do not, and early systems were often installed without optimisers or monitoring. If your generation has dropped, your inverter is over ten years old, or you want to add a battery or more panels, the fix is usually a targeted upgrade rather than a new system.

What the job includes

We start with performance testing so you know what the system is actually producing, then replace what needs replacing: inverters, optimisers or microinverters for shaded roofs, damaged or underperforming panels, mounting rails, and monitoring so you can see the output on your phone.

Performance testing
Measured output against expected, string by string, before anything is recommended.
Inverter replacement
Modern, more efficient inverters, hybrid where a battery is planned.
Optimisers and microinverters
Per-panel electronics for roofs with shading or mixed orientations.
Panel replacement
Cracked, hot-spotted or water-damaged panels replaced with current high-efficiency modules.
Monitoring
Real-time generation and consumption on your phone, with fault alerts.
Expansion
More panels where roof space allows, with the inverter sized to match.

Common questions

How do I know my system is underperforming?

A steady fall in generation on the meter, rising bills despite the panels, or an inverter that shows errors. We test it properly rather than guess.

How long does an inverter last?

Typically ten to fifteen years, against twenty-five or more for the panels, so most systems need at least one inverter in their life.

Can I add a battery to an old system?

Yes, either with an AC-coupled battery or by replacing the inverter with a hybrid one. We advise which is cheaper for your setup.

Will new panels work with my old ones?

Mixing modules needs care with strings and inverters. Optimisers or microinverters usually make it work cleanly.
