Heat pump servicing and installation

A heat pump moves heat rather than making it, which is why it can deliver several units of heat for every unit of electricity. Kept clean, pressure-tested and correctly set, it stays that efficient for years. Neglected, it costs a little more every winter without anyone noticing.

What the job includes

We service and repair air-source and ground-source heat pumps with vacuum pumps, refrigerant manifold gauges and leak detectors, and we design and install new systems from Vaillant, Bosch and Daikin under our MCS certification, including heat-loss assessment and integration with underfloor heating, solar and battery storage.

Annual service
Filters and coils cleaned, refrigerant pressure tested, leak check, electrical checks, controls reviewed and flow temperatures set.
Repairs
Fans, sensors, valves, compressors and controls on the main makes.
MCS installation
Heat-loss assessment, system design, mounting, commissioning and the MCS certificate you need for grant schemes.
Ground-source systems
Ground-loop installation and servicing for properties with the land for it.
Integration
Underfloor heating, solar PV and battery storage set up to work with the heat pump, not against it.

Common questions

How often should a heat pump be serviced?

Once a year, the same as a boiler, and most manufacturers require it to keep the warranty.

Are you MCS certified?

Yes. MCS certification is what makes an installation eligible for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.

Will a heat pump work with my radiators?

Often, sometimes with a few radiators upsized. The heat-loss survey shows which rooms need it before anything is bought.

Is a heat pump safer than a boiler?

There is no combustion and no flammable fuel in the house, so the carbon monoxide risk that comes with a boiler is not there.
