24-hour emergency call-out

Emergency? Call 01825 891720. Then do these things while we are on the way.

One number, day and night. In working hours it is the office; outside them it goes straight to the on-call engineer. We cover East Sussex, West Sussex and the west of Kent for burst pipes, major leaks, heating failures and boiler breakdowns.

What to do first

  1. Step 1

Gas smell or carbon monoxide alarm

Turn the gas off at the meter, open doors and windows, do not use switches or flames, get everyone outside, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999. Then call us to make the appliance safe and repair it.

  2. Step 2

    Burst pipe or major leak

Turn the water off at the stopcock, usually under the kitchen sink or where the mains enters the house. Switch off the boiler and any immersion heater. Open the cold taps to drain the pressure. Move what you can away from the water. Then call.

  3. Step 3

    No heating or hot water

Check the boiler display for an error code and the pressure gauge (it should sit around 1 to 1.5 bar when cold). Check the thermostat has power. If none of that helps, call and tell us the code; it often tells the engineer what to bring.

  4. Step 4

    Blocked toilet or overflowing tank

Stop using the fixture, turn off the supply to it if there is a valve, and call. Overflows from a loft tank should be treated as a leak: stopcock off.

What happens when you call

We ask what is happening and where
Symptoms, any error code, your postcode, and whether water or gas is involved. This decides what the engineer brings.
We tell you when to expect the engineer
An honest time based on where the on-call engineer is, not a promise we cannot keep.
Make safe, then repair
Stopping the damage comes first. If the full repair needs a part or daylight, we make it safe and come back.
You are told the cost before work starts
Out-of-hours rates are explained on the phone.

Not an emergency?

A radiator that is slow to warm, a boiler due a service, a dripping tap: book those in office hours and they are cheaper. See boiler repairs, central heating repairs and plumbing.
