Boiler repairs: fault found, part fitted, heating back on
No heating, no hot water, a leak, a pressure gauge that keeps dropping or a noise the boiler never used to make: these are the calls we take every week. An engineer comes with diagnostic equipment and the common parts on the van, finds the fault, and tells you plainly whether it is worth repairing.

What the job includes
We repair gas, LPG and oil boilers from Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Grant, Baxi, Viessmann and the other main makes. If the boiler is at the end of its life we will say so, and give you a quote for a replacement rather than a string of repairs.
- Fault-finding
- Error codes, pressure, ignition, flame sensing and electrical faults traced with proper test equipment rather than swapped parts.
- Component replacement
- Pumps, motorised valves, diverter valves, PCBs, fans, heat exchangers, expansion vessels, pressure relief valves and sensors.
- Leaks and pressure loss
- Found and fixed at source, whether it is a valve, a joint or a pinhole in the system.
- Flue and combustion checks
- Flue gas analysis and a check of the flue and plume kit after every repair.
- Hot water cylinders
- Megaflo, Gledhill and Joule cylinders, unvented and vented, including valves and immersion heaters.
- Power flushing
- When a repair keeps recurring because the system is full of sludge, we flush it rather than replace the same part twice.
How it goes
- 01Call us. Describe the symptom and any error code on the display.
- 02We book a visit, or send the emergency engineer if there is a leak, a gas smell or no heating in cold weather.
- 03The engineer diagnoses the fault, quotes the repair, and fixes it there and then if the part is on the van.
- 04If a part has to be ordered we tell you when it will arrive and come back to fit it.
Talk to an engineer, not a call centre
Call 01825 891720 between 8am and 5:30pm, Monday to Friday, and you will speak to someone who can book the job. Outside those hours the same number reaches our emergency engineer.
Common questions
Do you offer emergency boiler repairs?
Yes. The 24-hour number is the same as the office number, 01825 891720. Out of hours it reaches the on-call engineer.
My boiler keeps losing pressure. Is that a repair?
Usually, yes. Pressure loss means water is leaving the system somewhere: a leak, a failed expansion vessel or a passing pressure relief valve. We find which and fix it.
Repair or replace?
If the boiler is under about ten years old and the part is available, repair. If it is older, inefficient and the repair is a large fraction of a new boiler, we will tell you and quote both.
Which makes do you work on?
All the main makes: Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Ideal, Grant, Baxi, Viessmann, Potterton and others. Oil boilers are covered under our OFTEC registration.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Turn the gas off at the meter, open windows, do not use switches, and call the National Gas Emergency line on 0800 111 999 first. Then call us to repair the appliance once it is safe.
